Fried Squid with Red Peppers

My husband loves this appetizer so much, that he oftens asks me to make it as a main course.  It is easy to make and is great to serves as an hors d'oeuvre at parties. 

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups tempura flour
2 cups water
1 cup bread crumbs
2 cups olive oil
½ each red pepper (sliced lengthwise into 6 pieces)
350 grams sliced squid

PREPARATION:

1. Mix the tempura flour with the water in a bowl, then add the bread crumbs.
2. Heat the olive oil in a wok.
3. Dip the sliced squid and sliced peppers into the batter and bread crumb mix, then fry in the wok until golden brown.
4. Remove the squid and peppers from the olive oil using a slotted spoon to drain the oil. Then transfer the squid and peppers to paper towels to absorb the remaining oil.
5. Garnish with sweet basil.
6. Serve hot with sweet chili sauce.
