Beef with Oyster Sauce (Pad Neau Num Mon Hoy)

I prefer beef when I cook with oyster sauce. On occasion, I have also used cooked beef with my sweet and sour salad. In this recipe, the oyster sauce compliments the taste the beef. In my mind, vegetables are another essential ingredient for most any recipe, and I made sure to include liberal amounts of mushrooms, scallions and red peppers for that reason. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS:

10 oz. beef (sliced thin & approx. 2 inch long)
4 tbsp. soy sauce
3 tbsp. olive oil
2 tbsp. garlic (chopped)
1 tbsp. corn starch
1 tbsp. sugar
¼ cup oyster sauce
2 cups brown button mushrooms (slice in half)
¼ cup scallions (cut into 1 inch lengths)
½ cup sweet red pepper (narrow slices approx. 2 inches long)
¼ cup water

PREPARATION:

1. Mix the beef with the corn starch and 2 tbsp. of soy sauce.
2. Place the garlic and the olive oil into a wok and, using a medium high heat setting, stir fry until golden brown and fragrant.
3. Then, add the beef and mushrooms and continue stir frying until the beef is browned to your taste.
4. Add the remaining soy sauce with the water, oyster sauce, sugar, sweet red peppers and scallions, then continue stir frying for about 3 minutes.
5. Remove from the heat and serve immediately for the best taste.

Make 3 servings

Tip: Red and green chili peppers may be added if desired for those who like it hot and spicy. The chili should be cut into slices lengthwise.
